Fisker is finally starting deliveries of its Karma luxury plug-in hybrid sedan later this month –and the lucky person to get the first car will be none other than Hollywood star Leonardo di Caprio (....the spicy female model featured in the firm's print advert is not included with the car).
The company says it has already received 3,000 pre-orders with the waiting list reaching until early 2012. Other famous customers for the $100,000 hybrid sports sedan are former US Vice President Al Gore and former National Security Advisor and Secretary of State Colin Powell.

Video: Fisker Karma Sedan Television Ad

A few months before Fisker begins delivery of the Karma, the California-based automaker has began running ads for its all-electric sedan on LA TV stations. The first commercial for the 100mpg luxury plug-in hybrid isn't anything special but at least it gets the word out. See it after the jump.

Fisker Latigo CS, 2006

Fisker Latigo CS, 2006

The BMW 6 Series 650Ci Coupe provides the base vehicle architecture for the FISKER LATIGO CS. Signature FISKER cues bring a new gravitas and balance to the luxury sports coupe - it is understated elegance at its best. As in the FISKER TRAMONTO, all electronic, telematic and safety systems remain untouched from the original manufacturer, and every original vehicle option is available.

The FISKER LATIGO CS is currently nearing production status, so final technical details are still in flux. Engine specifications call for a standard 32-valve, 4.8-liter V8 pumping 367 horsepower, and an optional V10 that generates over 550 horsepower if you choose a BMW M6 as your base architecture.

LATIGO CS DESIGN
The LATIGO CS evidences signature Fisker style, with details that can only be done by hand. "Hand craftsmanship is at the forefront of this coachbuild design. Coachbuilding is an art form," explains Henrik Fisker, CEO FISKER COACHBUILD.

FISKER COACHBUILD works with a hand-picked team of classic car body builders, wheelers, panel beaters, wing makers, and fender manufacturers who are highly skilled in their work with aluminum, steel, stainless steel, carbon fiber and magnesium alloy.

The lines of the car bear a tension - like an arrow pulled back in the bow. C-pillars have been redesigned to flow in a more sculptured manner, sitting solidly over rear wheels. Dimensions front and rear have been shortened. A sculptured power dome highlights the hood. Overall, brilliantly balanced proportions lend a solid, unmistakable presence to the FISKER LATIGO CS, while advanced aerodynamic sculpting creates a shape that is virtually invisible to the air.

Exterior detail highlights include:
+ Low ground-hugging stance
+ Lightweight, high-strength carbon fiber and steel define the outer shape
+ Sculptured power dome highlights the hood
+ Slim, beautifully proportioned head lamps tie together the strong front graphic
+ Fog lights inset with carbon fiber bezels on the lower front spoiler
+ Fisker family resemblance with distinctive, black powder-coated grille
+ 3-dimensional milled aluminum and hand painted badge
+ Side indicators set in a chromed aluminum bezel
+ Clean, unbroken lines
+ Carbon fiber rear diffuser sits above twin stainless steel round exhausts
+ Integrated rear bumper design creates a sculptured look and feel
+ C-pillars are designed to sit proportionally correct over rear wheels
+ Lightweight, purpose-designed, 10-spoke, 3-piece 20" wheels

LATIGO CS INTERIOR DESIGN
Inside the FISKER LATIGO CS you see the true art form of custom coachbuild craftsmanship. Interior fit and finish are distinctive. The touch of the finest materials can be felt everywhere. And sumptuous, hand-stitched leather surrounds.

FISKER COACHBUILD has partnered with Distinctive Industries, the American-based leather interior experts, to produce a high-performance, high-luxury environment that is deceptively spacious. Every technological feature remains intact, including the home-theater quality Logic7 audio system and the optional heads-up display.

The creature comforts of the base architecture are all still available - and then some. A myriad of hand-crafted upgrades creates a new level of luxury you'll be sure to notice.

Interior detail enhancements include:
+ Spacious, high-performance and high-luxury environment
+ Aluminum sill plaques engraved with FISKER COACHBUILD, which sit on the polished carbon fiber sill panel
+ Soft, hand-stitched leather throughout the car, including seat backs
+ Hand-stitched three-spoke steering wheel
+ Unique numbering system on an aluminum plaque atop center console
+ Hand-stitched leather headliner
+ Sun roof cover lined with Alcantara leather
+ Milled aluminum accents on the sun visor around the vanity mirror
+ Milled aluminum enhancements to the BMW "iDrive" components
+ Gear shift knob with aluminum and leather incorporates aluminum FISKER logo
+ Driver-facing center console design

Fisker Karma S concept

Fisker Automotive revealed the newest addition to its lineup at NAIAS 2009, exactly a year after the independent carmaker unveiled its first concept vehicle, the Karma.

Called the Karma S concept, the four-seat convertible was designed by Henrik Fisker with input from a newly assembled design team taken on to help bring the Karma sedan to production.

The design of the S is likely to make it to the showroom almost unchanged.

Fisker plug-in hybrid sport sedan

Fisker Automotive is poised to become the first 'green' American premium car company when it launches its four-door plug-in hybrid sports sedan at the Detroit Auto Show in January.

As the first production vehicle to come from the newly formed company - a joint venture between Quantum Technologies and Fisker Coachbuild - the car will feature an all-new platform and a chassis that enables the battery pack to be placed between the two axles at the center of the vehicle. This positioning provides not only optimal driving dynamics and safety, but proportionate design as well, leading to a sleek design that accentuates the long hood.

Performance figures for the first car have it achieving 50 miles on electric power alone, while a gasoline or diesel engine extends the range to more than 620 miles. It has also been claimed to deliver 100mpg. Initial deliveries of the car will commence in late 2009 with annual production projected to reach 15,000 cars, each with a starting price of $80,000.

Fisker Latigo CS

Southern California-based coachbuilder Henrik Fisker has created the Latigo CS, based on a BMW M6 platform. Additions to the new car are entirely hand built, featuring extensive use of aluminum, stainless steel, carbon fiber and magnesium alloy.

The car's dimensions have been shortened both front and rear and the C-pillars have been redesigned. A sculptured 'power dome' highlights the hood while slimmer head lamps tie together the front graphic and Fisker's distinctive, black powder-coated or anodized aluminum grille. A 3-dimensional milled aluminum and hand painted badge, side indicators (set in a chromed aluminum bezel), carbon fiber rear diffuser and twin stainless steel round exhausts are all bespoke elements; as are the integrated rear bumper and the lightweight 10-spoke, 3-piece 20-inch wheels.

Inside, the coachbuild craftsmanship continues with hand-stitched leather on the seats, headliner and three-spoke steering wheel. The gear shift knob incorporates an aluminum Fisker logo, while the polished carbon fiber sill panels are adorned with aluminum sill plaques bearing the company's name.

Only 150 Latigo CS models will be built worldwide, in a combination of coupes and convertibles.
